Inspired by 18th and 19th Century furniture Iain James reproduces the ambience of this classical period through the combination of careful design reproduction, specialist polishing and restoration skills. Each individual piece is hand coloured, distressed and shaded to achieve a subtle antique effect, before the finish is gently ‘built up’ through the application of fine layers of polish.

The process is then completed by the intricate dulling of the finish, using fine wire wool, pumice powder and brush before being burnished with high quality beeswax to its final patina.

These specialist polishing skills accentuate the decorative qualities of the selected timbers and veneers used on our furniture.
